　　武汉人称吃早饭为"过早",他们几乎不自己做早餐吃,出门"过早"是一种深厚的地方习惯. "过早"这一词汇最早出现在清代道光年间的《汉口竹枝词》中,那时人们为了早早到汉口赶集,总是在路上买着吃.时至今日,现代生活节奏的加快,加之人们工作、学习的场所与居住区距离的增大,这种"过早"的习俗呈增强的趋势,所以武汉的小吃业极为发达,大街小巷无处不是生意兴隆食客盈门的小吃店. 武汉的早点品种很多,汇集了南北方的各种口味,最具当地特点的早点有面窝、三鲜豆皮、热干面、伏汁酒（一种用酒酿和鸡蛋花冲成的甜汤）,还有烧卖、汤包、牛肉线粉、炸酱面、豆丝、水饺、汤圆等,都是一些价廉物美的早点心.
